This week's Dumb Answer comes from a misplay on Monday's (2/28) episode of The Price is Right.



This is Curtis from Cleveland. He won his way on stage bidding on an iPad (which as we've learned this past week will soon be obsolete). Now, he's got a chance to win something that won't be as obsolete in the coming months...



A NEW CAR! It's a 2011 Ford Escape XLT. And to win that he'll have to play...



10 Chances. Of course he'll also have to price two smaller prizes correctly before he gets a crack at the price of the car. After correctly getting the price of a pasta machine ($70) on his first try, he has a maximum of 9 chances to correctly price a set of Michael C. Fina/Kate Spade flatware.



Those are the 4 numbers given to him. 3 of those 4 numbers make up the actual retail price (ARP) of the flatware set.

To those who never watch the show, there's always a good tip to have in your head when playing 10 Chances. If there's a 0 in the list of numbers, it's almost always going to be the last number in the price. Curtis, follows this notion by putting down...



Incorrect. On Chance 3 of the game he writes down...

$250? This isn't The Cheap Show and Drew Carey isn't Dick Martin, so BUZZ. Chance 4 and Curtis goes with...



Makes sense but, wrong. Chance 5 and Curtis again comes up with a somewhat sensible answer of...



Now he gets desperate. He forgoes the previously mentioned tip and writes down...



Uhhhh...no. You probably sense where this is going. Matter of fact, let's condense this to save bandwidth. He would write down $270 on Chance 7 which was wrong, $572 on Chance 8 which was wrong, $752 on Chance 9 which was wrong and, thus, gave him no chance at the car, and then for no reason whatsoever came up with his price on his final chance.





Lebron feels so much happier about taking his talents to South Beach, I bet. ARP for those of you wanting some flatware: $720

So, Curtis really didn't make "Cleveland Rock" in 10 Chances, and he wouldn't do much better in the Showcase Showdown by spinning a 15 followed by a 5 before exiting stage right.

So, Curtis ends up with a soon to be obsolete iPad, a pasta maker, and this week's Dumb Answer of the Week. But, hey he's from Cleveland & he can hang his hat on one thing...
