Dumb Answer of
the Week
What Happens When You Speak Before You
Think
December 22nd - December 29th, 2012

This "Dumb Answer of the Week" takes
us back to holiday week on "The Price is Right".
This is Hatea from Hawaii. He just won his way on stage and is waiting
to play the first pricing game of the day. Let's see what he can take
back to Hawaii!
A NEW CAHHHHHHHH! It's a brand new Kia
Rio LX with all sorts of spiffy fixings. Bro-ski model not included.
To win the car, Hatea must win "Cover
Up". You probably know how this game is played by now. $38,400 isn't the
price of a Kia Rio LX. The first number is either a 1 or 2, the second
number is either a 2, 5 or 0, and so on and so on. So, let's see what
Hatea does.
Part of me is scratching my head here.
He's picking a 2 first. Can we take another look at that car, please?
We're talking about a subcompact car
here. A subcompact car usually doesn't cost more than $15,000-$17,000.
So, why would he pick a 2?
Simple. To buy himself another chance in the game. Remember, as long as
he has 1 number in the price correct after each turn, the game
continues. So, he'll probably place the 5 in as the second digit.
Or not. Maybe he really thinks this is
a $20,000 vehicle? I have a bad feeling about this.
So, he comes up with a final price of...
Is he right?
*BUZZ*
Of course he's wrong. Very few people ever get the price right off the
bat. Again, if Hatea has at least one number right, the number(s) will
light up and the game will continue. Let's see what he has right.
Wow. Not a single number right and the
game ends immediately.
Drew's in disbelief over it all saying
he's never seen this happen. I can't remember seeing it happen, off the
top of my head and...
Thank you, Penn Jillette. There always seems to be that one fanboi who
takes it a little too far.
Hatea's day ended on an equally bad or perhaps even worse note.
He won his showcase showdown only to overbid
on his showcase by a couple of hundred dollars. Tough day all around for
Hatea. In fact, it might be one of the worst days a contestant has had
on "Price" ever.
Cueing Mr. Jillette!
Thank you. That stare probably scared Poindexter out in to the hallway.
So, Hatea goes away with the jewelry collection he won on his one bid, a
whole lot of bad luck and the latest "Dumb Answer of the Week".
