the Week
What Happens When You Speak Before You

A new
season of game shows is in full swing & that can only mean one thing.
It's time for new editions of GSG's "Dumb Answer of the Week".
The first "Dumb Answer of the Week" for the 2011-2012 television season
comes from the season premiere of Let's Make A Deal.
Say hello to Joseph. He's a cow or something. And he's about to make a
deal that could net him...
A Chevy Cruze! (Tiffany Coyne not included)
To win the car, Joseph has to excel at a game of...
Joseph gets one ping pong ball just for being picked by Wayne and all he
has to do is bounce the ping pong ball into the specially marked glass
in the center of the car hood to win the car.
Seems simple enough. Joseph seems to be a college aged kid and you know
the college folks love them some pong.
But wait, there's more. To give him a better chance to win the car,
Joseph will play a trivia game to earn up to 4 more ping pong balls.
On the table in front of Tiffany sits 5 labeled boxes. From left to
right, they read "Brownie Batter", "Fossil Fuel", "Apple Cobbler",
"Phish Food" & "Cherry Garcia".
Four of the five boxes are names of current Ben & Jerry's ice cream
flavors. One is not and is a zonk. To earn additional ping pong balls,
all Joseph has to do is pick the flavors that are current Ben & Jerry's
ice cream flavors. Each correct pick is worth an additional ping pong
ball, while picking the zonk ends the game with however many ping pong
balls that have been amassed added to Joseph's total.
So, we've got a college themed game and a college themed snack as part
of the trivia game, this bodes well for Joseph the Cow.
He makes his first selection.
"Uh...Apple Cobbler."
Whoa. I wouldn't have gone there first. Most of Ben & Jerry's flavors
pay homage to famous people. I know for a fact that Cherry Garcia is a
flavor. And I'd probably figure Phish Food is a flavor too.
But, Joseph goes with Apple Cobbler.
And boom goes the dynamite.
So he's
left with one chance to win the car. Can he do it?
Thanks Mr.
Uecker (or should I say Mr. Doyle?).
Wayne gives Joseph a chance at some extra money. He offers our
cow-testant one more pong shot & if the ball lands in any of the
glasses, then Joseph will go home with $100. Wayne advises Joseph to
take his time on this one, and the net result?
Though the
screen grab doesn't do justice, his consolation shot actually hits off
the top of the car glass and bounces to the back wall.
So Joseph
the Cow has to tuck his tail between his legs (hopefully avoiding his
udder) & sit down with no car, no money & the first Dumb Answer of the
Week of the season. It's a combination guaranteed to make you say...
You knew I had to go there.
